I was born in Auckland NZ, but when i was three we went to the Netherlands where my mother was born. I spend most my childhood in Amsterdam. I started playing guitar when I was twelve, classical at first and went onto other styles later on.
When I was 19 I came back to NZ. I became an engine reconditioner first and did general engineering later and that's still my day job.
I got married to Julie and we had three children. I still kept playing guitar and bass but was never happy with the instruments i was playing and was always trying to improve the sound and the way they played. In my late twenties I decided to make my own bass guitar and thought I did alright but i laugh at my first effort when i look at it now. I kept on making instruments and they gradually improved to the point that i was starting to sell a few.
I was also starting to doing set-ups, repairs and modifications for other people .
These days I always have something on the go, either making or repairing instruments.
