Eden Bradfield

Eden Bradfield is a multi-disciplinary musician, writer and artist. He completed his formal studies in violin in Stockholm, returning to NZ where he taught violin and started several musical projects ranging from experimental bands in the singer-songwriter tradition to a concert of almost entirely Mozart. His short stories and essays have been published in places such as Percutio, Takahe, The Times of London, Minarets, Pop magazine, Elle, and so on. Future projects include and exhibition of drawings of chefs informed by his recent studies in the field of cookery, an album to be released by Epic Sweep Records, and a small book of short stories- each one perfect for reading with your morning (or night) coffee.

A History of the Lyric explores the fundamental impact radio and recording had on songwriting, the sometimes fraught link between poetry and song, the development of the lyric in the 20th century and asks the question: where do we go from here? We will also explore various approaches to songwriting and examine various songs and the techniques/motifs used. Participants are welcome to bring their own lyrics/songs to workshop.
